If you’ve ever wondered how local government works and want to increase your leadership skills, Cranberry Township has an institute for you.
The Community Leadership Institute of Cranberry (CLIC) promotes community engagement, growth, and understanding by offering an in-depth look at how Cranberry Township functions daily and what the local government does to improve the community's quality of life. The institute also seeks to educate and encourage graduates to be integral to the community through enlightened leadership abilities.
“I was pleasantly surprised to learn much is involved in running a local government,” said a CLIC 2023 graduate. “I didn’t expect to cover so much in one night, but it was great.”
The program comprises seven sessions covering government, infrastructure, public safety, utilities, communications, information technology, and parks and recreation. Each session lasts about 1.5 hours. At the end of the institute, a graduation ceremony is held. About 40 people have graduated from the program since its creation.
“I never realized how much went into communicating with residents and the public in general,” said a 2024 graduate.
“The panel members were organized and articulate and educated me on ideas and ideals that never came to mind,” said a 2023 graduate.
The Institute expects a waitlist for the class of 2025. Full-time residents are eligible for the program. Interested residents can register here.
