It all started in 1973, with a collection of 200 books filling 120 square feet of space.
Five decades later, the Cranberry Public Library holds more than 93,000 items inside 15,300 square feet of the Municipal Center. Thanks to its more than 26,000 registered patrons, 400,000 items are circulated throughout the library annually.
Its mission is to serve as a hub for information, inspiration, and enrichment.
And it’s doing just that.
More than just thousands of books of various genres, the library offers programs to adults, kids, tweens, and teens, such as book discussions and infant story time. But even more so, the library is home to The Forge, a creative space to learn and explore. The space features a laser engraver, 3-D printers, computer-controlled cutting machines, an embroidery sewing machine, electronics, and various specialized hand tools for crafting to allow visitors to design and create their projects. The Forge was CTCC’s Project of the Year in 2019 and officially opened in 2021.
Like libraries everywhere, community support is key. Donors, sponsors, legacy gifts, and Legacy Endowments have helped ensure the library thrives yearly. And an Amazon Wishlist allows the library to continue to grow.
